Student Clubs

If you do not want your student to participate in any specific club, the GCPS Student/Parent Handbook contains a form to decline permission for participation in a club or other extracurricular activity.

Aktion Club

ADAPT / STRIVE offers all students the opportunity to participate in Aktion Club. This club for adults with special needs is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. You can visit the Aktion Club website to learn more.

Aktion Club Information

  • Club Name: Aktion Club
  • Mission: To provide adults living with disabilities an opportunity to develop initiative, leadership skills and to serve their communities.
  • Advisor: Grace King
  • Affiliations: Kiwanis Club
  • Planned Activities: Student officers will plan the activities for the year once they are elected in the fall. Past activities have included talent show, fashion show, and service projects such as making thank you cards for soldiers at Thanksgiving and participation in Great Days of Service.

Relay for Life

Students may choose to participate in the student Relay for Life team for ADAPT-STRIVE. Relay for Life is an annual event sponsored by the American Cancer Society at sites around the United States. The local Relay for Gwinnett County is held at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. The Relay for Life team seeks to raise funds to support cancer research and to honor those who have been affected by cancer. There is also a staff Relay for Life team that works with the student group. You can visit the Relay for Life website to learn more.

Relay for Life Student Team Information

  • Club Name: Student Relay for Life Team
  • Mission: The hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated.
  • Advisor: Jessica Garrett
  • Affiliations: American Cancer Society
  • Planned Activities: Students will meet with the advisor to give input and assist with fundraising efforts. Fundraisers planned include spirit days throughout the year and Valentine Grams. The student team will also help to plan additional fundraisers. All students and staff are invited to attend the Relay for Life event in May of each year, whether on the team or not, to show support for cancer research.
